Slower than a marathon runner!

Yesterday I did a monster bike ride! Well it's the longest I've ever ridden for anyway, just over 26 miles!

You might have read from my main blog that my bike has been serviced and has new wheels etc. so I thought I'd give it a good trial run and by jove I did!

It was a beautiful morning, clear skys and a brisk wind. The first 11k whizzed by, probably helped by the strong wind behind me, but unfortunately the rest of the ride was into the strong wind, even going downhill I had to pedal to not slow to a stop or go backwards!

It was a really good ride and the bike is back in prime condition ready to go back into regular sessions.

I did keep a record of other rides, but at the moment I can't be arsed to post them, so here's the one from yesterday.

The road is long...

If anything, the results are consistant. Average speed and cadence don't alter much. I'm just really wanting a new bike now!

Cycling through Sand!?!

What is happening to my bike ride? It just seems to be getting slower and more hard work? The weight I'm carrying isn't getting any larger and my fitness in running and swimming is increasing. I'll check my tyres are pumped up on the trip home and see if some extra effort is needed, but it just seemed like I was cycling through sand this morning.

Sunny ride home

The pedal on my bike is clicking so loudly now that no matter how loud I've got Rage Against The Machine playing on my ipod I can still hear it. I'm either going to buy a new bike or pedals with cleats.

Frosty Morning

I thought this morning's trip would've been faster than it was as when I got on the bike at 6.30am this morning the temperature was minus moscow! I pedalled as hard as I could to keep warm and had to pretend I was playing the piano to stop my fingers from going numb!

Going Home

I'm not into making excuses for poor performance, but on the trip home on friday besides having to stop off to have a quick wee (no one saw me even though it was incredibly busy on the track when normally I don't see a soul, sod's law!), my bike was creaking a lot. It was a combination of my right pedal and the gears making noises. Makes me think I'll be buying a road bike sooner than I thought.
